Personal Gardening Journal

Here's a great gift idea, But make sure it's for someone you really love, because it is a lot of work but worth it.

It is a personal gardening journal. Instead of flipping through book after book of plants you don't own, collect the information for the plants that you do own into one easy reference manual. Use a 4 by 6 photo album.

Each page contains a photo of a flower from my very own garden, a fact card, a brief article with important information, and a card for taking notes so that I can write down new information that I may discover on my own or from a nursery . I can also put the info cards that come with the plants into the pockets.

On the note card I can record where and when I purchased the plant and the day I planted it.

Then there is a calendar section so that I can record the things that need to be done for each time of the year.

Finally, there are some articles that explain some things I wish to remember such as ph levels of soil, a list of pests and how to eradicate them, and other interesting things I have discovered along the way.
All this information I was able to Google.

I included lots of landscape shots from my yard to show off my green thumb. And as my yard improves or bloom seasons peak I can trade out the photos.

I have made 2 as gifts and next I will be making one for myself as soon as I get done moving all the plants that I have in the wrong spots. Lol!
And if you are making it for a friend, make sure a spouse or neighbor who can keep a secret knows why you are casing their joint and taking pictures so you don't find yourself including the back of a squad car in your gift.

Of course, the best way to make your own is to make one for a friend first, that way it's not so much work to make your own, since all you need to do is change out the pictures (the articles can stay the same).
